We have developed a list of FAQs to help you better understand Botox and its procedure.

FAQ

Botox is a neurotoxin generated from Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin injection injections are used for improving the appearance of wrinkles on the face, including:

  • Vertical or frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead (worry lines)
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Bunny lines on the nose
  • Creases around the lips/corners of the mouth

Once injected into the muscle, it blocks the signals from the nerves that go to the muscles. Hence, when the nerve impulse no longer reaches the muscle, it prevents the muscle from contracting or tightening. This further causes the muscles to relax and weaken. It softens the overlying skin and causes the wrinkles to disappear. When the wrinkles soften, it gives you smoother and youthful skin.

The procedure is relatively straightforward and quick. It doesn’t require anesthesia. Our qualified medical professional uses a small-sized needle to inject Botox into the targeted muscles of the face. The procedure is pain-free with only minor discomfort.

It takes roughly five minutes to complete the procedure. However, the timeframe can vary depending on:

  • The number of injections administered
  • The size of the targeted area
  • The specific muscle strength

Once the procedure is complete, patients can resume their daily activities immediately. However, avoid touching or rubbing the area treated as it can cause the medication to move to other muscles. Also, some patients may experience bruising or minor redness around the treated area.

The effects of the injection may last around three to six months. When the muscle action returns slowly, the wrinkles and lines reappear. Hence, they must be treated again

Botox for wrinkles is exceedingly popular in NYC. Moreover, the treatment is approved in more than 78 countries for cosmetic use. Also, the efficacy and safety of these injections have been evaluated in several clinical trials, 400 peer-reviewed articles and medical journals. The FDA also approved it for treating complex glabellar muscles in 2002. Rest assured, it is a safe treatment.

Also, for increased safety, it is advisable only to undergo the treatment with a qualified medical professional who is experienced in Botox for wrinkles treatment.
